Bhutia Busty Monastery
Founded in 1879, this monastery is also known as the Red Hat. It follows the Vajrayana sect of both Kargyud and Nijingmapa order.
Samten Choling Monastery
This monastery is the seat of ven. Dromo Geshe Rinpoche, the second and follows the Gelukpa sect of Vajrayana Buddhism. It is also popular as the Yellow Hat. The monastery has recently installed a 26 feet tall stupa in memory of Lama Anagarika Govinda, a great scholar from Germany.
Druk Thupten Sangag Choling Monastery
This monastery is situated in Dali, a place located 4 Kms away from the Darjeeling town, thus also known as the Dali Monastery. This is quite a famous monastery of the Kargyupa sect. This monastery was established by Thuksay Rimpoche. This monastery is the seat of Drukchen Rimpoche XII, the supreme head of the Kargyupa lineage.
Ghoom Monastery
Some rare handwritten Buddhist manuscripts are also preserved here. One can visit this monastery on the return journey to Darjeeling from Tiger Hill.
